Who we are

At WELLSTAR, we are committed to reshaping Canadian healthcare by leveraging technology to address the administrative burdens that pull physicians away from their true calling, patient care. Our mission is to support providers and patients, shifting the emphasis back to quality, timeliness, and positive outcomes. With a comprehensive suite of technology solutions, we have successfully helped thousands of providers adopt and benefit from modern, interoperable technologies that improve patient outcomes and system efficiency.

Whether you are in research and development, administration, communications, operations leadership, or technology, joining us now is an opportunity to play a critical role in transforming how healthcare is managed and experienced in Canada.

WELLSTAR Clinical Platform Group brings together the EMR technology that supports clinics and healthcare providers across Canada, including OSCAR Pro, Juno, HealthQuest, and Cerebrum. As part of the broader WELL Health ecosystem, we are focused on helping providers adopt modern, scalable, and connected technology that supports better care delivery and reduces administrative complexity.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Implementations, we are hiring a Senior Data Migration Specialist to join our Implementations team. As our new Senior Data Migration Specialist, you will be the senior technical resource for EMR data migrations, helping clinics and healthcare organizations move from legacy systems to WELLSTAR platforms accurately, securely, and with minimal disruption.

You will support high-profile enterprise migrations across OSCAR Pro and Juno to start, with broader exposure across WELLSTAR’s clinical platform group as the organization continues to grow. You will work across test migrations, data validation, final migrations, issue resolution, and go-live readiness, partnering with implementation team members, vendors, clinic administrators, physicians, and technical customer contacts.

This is a full-time remote role open to candidates across Canada. Flexibility is required to support migration windows that may occasionally fall outside standard business hours, including early Eastern or later Pacific time, to minimize disruption to clinics during operating hours.

What is in it for you

Influence. You will shape a high-impact function at a pivotal time. WELLSTAR is operating at a pivotal moment in Canadian healthcare technology, with increasing demand for secure, scalable, connected clinical platforms. This is an opportunity to directly influence migration speed, data accuracy, customer readiness, and go-live success. By improving how data is mapped, validated, migrated, and supported, you will reduce rework, lower risk, and help clinics maintain access to the historical information they rely on to deliver care.

Impact. You will create leverage through better tools and processes. You will improve the scripts, tools, workflows, and repeatable approaches that support migration work. Your contributions will help the team move faster, work more consistently, and scale migration volume without compromising quality or privacy. This is a chance to apply deep technical expertise to work that matters: making healthcare technology easier to adopt, trust, and use.

A meaningful mission. WELLSTAR is part of a healthcare technology ecosystem serving a significant portion of practitioners across Canada. You will join a specialized team focused on solving practical, high-value problems in healthcare technology, where your expertise will be visible and valued. As migration needs evolve, you will have the opportunity to mentor others, strengthen team practices, and contribute to the future structure of the migration function.

How you will make an impact:

  • Help set the technical direction for complex migrations. You will lead complex, high-value EMR conversions for multi-location practices and enterprise healthcare organizations. You will identify risks early, guide data strategy, and serve as the escalation point when migration complexity threatens timelines, accuracy, or go-live readiness.
  • Create more scalable migration infrastructure. You will help design and maintain the scripts, tools, reusable approaches, and validation standards that support WELLSTAR’s conversion work. You will focus on the big picture, building repeatable approaches that reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and increase confidence across every stage of the migration lifecycle.
  • Influence product and implementation outcomes. You will bring the voice of Implementation into Product and Engineering conversations, advocating for import capabilities, integrations, and platform improvements that reduce friction for customers and internal teams. Your insight into the complexity of real-world healthcare data will help shape decisions that improve implementation quality and platform scalability.
  • Raise the bar for migration quality and governance. You will evolve the team’s migration playbook, including mapping standards, validation methods, cutover planning, documentation, and compliance-conscious data handling. You will ensure tools and processes support secure, accurate, and auditable migration work aligned with PHI, HIPAA, SOC 2, and internal expectations.
  • Develop capability across the team. You will mentor junior and mid-level specialists, support stronger technical practices, and help build a shared standard for how migration work is scoped, delivered, reviewed, and improved. As the function grows, you will help shape the team’s capacity, operating model, and future leadership structure.
  • Measure and improve migration performance. You will track and report on migration outcomes, including data accuracy, timeline adherence, rework, automation gains, and delivery risk. You will use those insights to improve processes, strengthen planning, and help implementation leadership make informed decisions about priorities and capacity.

What you bring:

  • The EMR data migration experience. You have strong experience working with EMR, EHR, practice management, healthcare data, or similar data migration environments. Direct EMR migration experience is highly preferred, especially with platforms such as TELUS Health PSS, CHR, Med Access, Avaros, Accuro, Oscar Pro, Juno, or similar Canadian EMR systems.
  • The migration mindset. You understand how data moves from one system to another, including extraction, transformation, mapping, validation, and final load processes. You can balance technical detail with customer timelines, vendor coordination, implementation delivery, and go-live readiness.
  • The technical depth. You are comfortable getting into systems, understanding back-end structures, manipulating data, and solving complex migration problems. You bring strong SQL skills and experience with scripts, tools, or technical processes that support accurate, efficient data movement.
  • The customer-facing confidence. You can communicate clearly with internal teams, vendors, clinic administrators, physicians, and technical customer stakeholders. You ask good questions, explain issues in practical terms, and help customers feel supported through complex transitions.
  • The tooling and automation capability. You have experience working with, improving, or building tools that support data migration, validation, reporting, or repeatable data processes. Experience with Python or a comparable language, Git, ETL tooling, cloud platforms, or CI/CD pipelines would be an asset.
  • The regulated data judgement. You understand the responsibility that comes with handling sensitive information in healthcare or another highly regulated industry. You approach data access, privacy, validation, documentation, and secure handling with care and sound judgement.
  • The leadership potential. You bring ownership, maturity, and a collaborative approach. You may have mentored others, supported junior team members, led project work, or acted as an escalation point, and you are interested in growing your impact as the team evolves.
