The opportunity
WELLSTAR, a majority-owned subsidiary of WELL Health Technologies Corp, is a high-growth SaaS company with a focused objective of reshaping healthcare through digital enablement. Our innovative solutions are designed to streamline care delivery, integrate healthcare systems and improve patient outcomes.
Reporting to the Controller, we are looking for a Financial Accountant. You will play a key role in month-end close activities, supporting multiple business units, and providing timely financial insights that support decision-making across the company. Your insights will directly influence our financial performance and operational efficiency.
This is a full-time, hybrid role, working a minimum of 2-3 days onsite in our Vancouver office.
What’s in it for you
Impact and exposure. You will partner with leaders in various business units, directly influencing the financial success and compliance posture of WELLSTAR’s expanding portfolio. Unlike traditional roles, you will also be a prominent part of the acquisition integration process, working with multiple new companies as they are acquired.
Mission and purpose. You will be part of a purpose-driven company transforming healthcare delivery through technology while ensuring security and compliance at every level.
Growth potential. You will gain the skills, exposure, and experience to accelerate your career and take on greater responsibilities as WELLSTAR continues to grow.
What you will do:
- Manage the month-end close. You will prepare and post journal entries, complete reconciliations and accruals, and deliver working papers with accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare financial reporting. You will compile monthly and quarterly reporting packages, draft financial statements for assigned business units, and provide variance analysis highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Support business performance. You will partner with business leaders to interpret financial results, respond to ad-hoc requests, and provide insights that inform decision-making across multiple business units.
- Lead compliance and controls. You will ensure all processes adhere to IFRS standards, company policies, and internal controls, while identifying gaps and recommending improvements.
- Drive M&A integration. You will support integrating newly acquired entities by aligning financial processes, migrating general ledger systems, and ensuring smooth consolidation into the broader finance function.
- Optimize accounting processes. You will identify opportunities to streamline workflows, implement scalable solutions, and enhance reporting tools to support a growing company.
- Support regulatory filings. You will assist with preparing provincial and federal sales tax submissions and other compliance requirements as needed.
What you bring:
- The education and experience. You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and are either a designated CPA or are a CPA student nearing completion. You may be coming from a Big Four accounting firm. You have strong knowledge of IFRS financial reporting. You have progressive experience in full-cycle financial accounting, including close cycles, audits, and analysis. Experience with M&A integration is an asset.
- The accountability. You have a detail-oriented, proactive, and ownership-driven approach. You are confident in undertaking complex accounting research and resolving reconciliation issues.
- The technical skills. You are highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and accounting software.
- The interpersonal skills. You are clear, concise, and professional in your written and verbal communication. You can explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and foster strong cross-functional relationships. You are able to work and collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment of a high-growth company.
